The London Sri Chinmoy Centre was founded in 1970. As well as meeting twice a week for meditation, other activities include.
Meditation classes
The London Sri Chinmoy Centre has been giving meditation classes for over 30 years in many different boroughs in London. During the past few decades, many thousands of people have learnt to meditate with our introductory courses.
Races
The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team have been promoting races in London for over 20 years. In the summer, we offer a season of races at Battersea park from 2 miles to 10 km. We also promote the London 24 hour Self-Transcendence race at Tooting Bec. (UK Sri Chinmoy Races)
Concerts
Sri Chinmoy performed six concerts at the Royal Albert Hall between 1984 and 2005. The concerts of meditative music attracted capacity audiences and were warmly received by concert goers.
The London Sri Chinmoy Centre has also put on concerts featuring other musicians, such as Boris Grebenshikov and music groups from the Sri Chinmoy Centre – Ananda and Temple Song Hearts.
Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run
In March 2016, the Peace Run passed through London and several schools were invited to mark the 30th anniversary of the Sri Chinmoy Peace Mile in Battersea Park. Schoolchildren ran the measured mile with the Peace Runners to share in this initiative to foster a culture of peace and harmony. (Further reading on Peace Run,
The Peace Run often visits local London schools to give a presentation on the values of peace, friendship and harmony.
Run and Become
Run and Become was one of the UK’s earliest specialist running shops. It was set up under the guidance of Sri Chinmoy in the early 1980s and continues to flourish, serving the London running community today. Run and Become.
